What Are the Best Things to Do, See, Eat, Drink, and Shop in Dallas?

I am excited and honored to announce that the Dallas Convention Center & Visitor's Bureau has asked me to write several parts of the 2013 edition of the "Visit Dallas" guide book, and I am eager to hear your suggestions of the must-include places! This is your opportunity to have a voice in guiding Dallas visitors to experience the best of our city!

I already have lots of places in mind, but I could be swayed by the number of people who mention the same place over and over, or maybe several people will mention a place I haven't visited in a while. Please keep in mind the goal…

The Goal

I have to narrow down all of the ideas to a very, very short list of the absolute must-visit places and things to do for people who may have never visited Dallas. Imagine you only have one afternoon or one evening to explore Dallas— where would you go? These short lists will include shopping, dining, nightlife, arts/culture, and outdoor experiences, and the lists will be limited to nine entertainment districts in Dallas. I also have to determine just one local insider tip for each district.

So for each of the next seven days and twice on each weekend day, I will be posting the Dallas entertainment district of the moment on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and asking you to give ONE must-visit place OR local insider tip in that given district

I will not be posting a blog for each district or taking suggestions from the comments on this blog, so be sure to follow me on either or all of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and wait to comment with your idea on the social media post asking about the district where your suggestion is located. See the daily schedule below.

For this guide, the nine entertainment districts of Dallas are defined as [with my call-for-ideas date]:
  1. Bishop Arts District [Wednesday]
  2. Deep Ellum [Thursday]
  3. Downtown (Victory Park–West End –The Dallas Arts District) [Friday]
  4. Uptown (McKinney Avenue–West Village) [Saturday]
  5. Dallas Design District–Oak Lawn [Saturday]
  6. South Side–Central Downtown [Sunday]
  7. Fair Park [Monday]
  8. Knox–Henderson [Monday]
  9. Greenville Avenue [Tuesday]
Now get your thinking cap on and wait for my post on that day!
